Riaction GT1

Riaction GT1 Coilovers for Nissan 300ZX

Riaction GT1 coilovers stand out as some of the best value-for-money coilovers available today.

Riaction have a fantastic reputation for customer service, an impressively quick service turnaround for their coilovers (4-7 days), and their proactive approach in testing their products and participating in motorsport.

Additionally, they offer a lifetime labor warranty on their kits. This means you only cover the cost of parts if your kit needs servicing; the labor comes at no additional charge.

The GT1 kit is their entry level kit, featuring 1-way dampening adjustment and linear damping. It’s also upgradable to 2-way dampening adjustment and can be converted to digressive valving.

I believe these are an excellent buy at about $1000. My full review on Riaction coilovers can be found here.

Features include:

  • Ride height adjustment by the shock body, 1-3 inches lower on standard kit, up to 4 inches on the Extreme Low kit
  • 30-level dampening adjustment (compression/rebound simultaneous)

Fortune Auto 500 Series

Fortune Auto 500 Series for Nissan 300zx

The Fortune Auto 500 Series is one of the best coilover kits on the market for several reasons.

Unlike most other coilover kits, the 500 Series are modular, which allows you to upgrade them from 1-way dampening adjustment to 510 spec and even 2-way dampening adjustment with external reservoirs.

That means that if you decide you need to upgrade your kit, you don’t need to buy a new kit, you can just send yours in to Fortune Auto for an upgrade.

Another thing that sets the Fortune Autos apart is that they test ever single damper on the shock dyno, and make sure every damper is matched to within a 3% tolerance.

Every kit is then hand assembled in their facility in Virginia, before being sent out, which allows them to maintain a super high level of quality control.

They also allow you to customize the kit to suit your needs, from custom spring rates and valving to Swift Spring, Super Low and more.

Fortune Auto have really done their best to make the ultimate coilover kit, and it shows. They also back these up with a 5 year warranty, which is one of the longest in the industry.

Features Include:

  • Ride height adjustment by the shock body, 1-3 inches on the standard kit, up to 5 inches on the Super Low kit
  • 24-level rebound adjustment
  • Monotube dampers with FA synthetic oil, high flow digressive piston and high pressure nitrogen
  • Aluminium T6 6061 strut mounts
  • Special premium chrome silicon alloy springs – Swift Spring upgrade available
  • Upgradeable to 510 or Pro 2-Way spec
  • Fully rebuildable and serviceable
  • 5 years warranty

KW V3

KW V3 for Nissan 300zx

The KW V3’s are a highly regarded coilover kit that combines street comfort with handling performance to give you the perfect setup for road and track.

KW put a lot of engineering into their kits, and specifically tune every kit for the specific car.

They are also highly regarded for being extremely corrosion resistant. The shock bodies are made from KW’s special INOX-LINE stainless steel which has been salt spray tested for 220 hours. They also feature special composite spring perches and adjusters which will never seize. If you live in a harsh weather environment, these are perfect for you.

The V3s give you independent compression and rebound adjustment, allowing you to fine tune the ride between street comfort and track handling.

KW also give you a lifetime warranty on these coilovers which tells you they really stand behind their products.

The only thing I don’t like about then is that the ride height adjustment is done by the spring perch, meaning you lose suspension travel the lower you go. KW also doesn’t give you a big adjustment range, so if you are picky about the ride height, I wouldn’t go with these.

Features include:

  • Ride height lowering up to 1.6 inch front, 1.4 inch rear
  • 16 level rebound adjustment
  • 12 level compression adjustment
  • Shock bodies made from INOX-LINE stainless steel
  • Composite spring perch
  • Lifetime warranty
  • Made in Germany
  • Fully rebuildable

Silvers Neomax

The Silvers Neomax is actually very similar to the Fortune Auto 500s, just at a lower price with a shorter warranty.

They are also modular which allows you to upgrade they to 2-way dampening adjustment with external reservoirs.

These coilovers are made in Taiwan, but unlike most Taiwanese coilovers that are outsourced, these are made at Silvers’ own factory, where they dyno test every damper and if they are not within a 5% tolerance, they get scrapped.

They then hand assembly every kit, ensuring each one is perfect before leaving their facility. This is backed by their 18 month warranty, which is still decent.

Silvers also pride themselves on making custom kits and having the fastest turnaround time in the industry.

These coilovers are also highly customizable including custom spring rates and valving, Swift Springs, Super Low and more.

Overall, these coilovers are fantastic value for money, with few kits being able to compete at this price level.

Features include:

  • Ride height adjustment done by shock body – 1-3 inches of lowering on the standard kit, up to 5 inches on the Super Low kit
  • 24-level dampening adjustment
  • 52mm monotube dampers with “hybrid” linear piston and digressive valving
  • Shock bodies made from electroless nickel plated carbon steel for maximum corrosion protection
  • Aluminium T6 6061 lower mounts for reduced weight
  • Aluminium upper strut mounts
  • Custom spring rates and matched valving available
  • Swift Spring upgrade available
  • 18 month warranty

TEIN Flex Z

Tein Flex Z for Nissan 300zx

If you are looking for a budget coilover kit, you really can’t do better than the TEIN Flex Z.

For under $1000, this kit provides an unbelievable amount of value.

For starters, it’s actually a good quality kit, maDe by a good company with an excellent reputation.

These coilovers are designed to give you ultimate street comfort while still being able to handle the occasional track day and performance driving.

They feature twin-tube dampers to increase the ride comfort, while the damper oil is made to withstand heat and prevent foaming, offering consistent damping through intensive driving sessions.

While the dampers are not rebuildable, TEIN has made them as replaceable inserts, which means it’s actually quicker and easier to replace them than if you had to send them away to get rebuilt.

TEIN will also custom valve the dampers for you, so if you decide you want to change the spring rates, just let them know and they will make sure they match.

Another cool thing about these coilovers is that they are specifically made for each region they are being sold in, so that TEIN can make tweaks to better suit the expected environment. This is unheard of for anywhere near this price level, and shows just how much effort TEIN puts into these coilovers.

If you are looking for sub $1000 coilovers, you really won’t find a better kit than the TEIN Flex Z’s.

Features include:

  • Ride height adjustment by the shock body, lowers the front up to 3 inches and the rear up to 3.8 inches
  • 16-level dampening adjustment
  • Twin tube dampers with special damper oil for maximum heat resistance and anti-foaming properties
  • Special TEIN patented powder coat and ZT coating on shock bodies and adjustment threads for maximum protection against corrosion in any weather
  • Special TEIN anti-sag springs
  • Made in Yokohama, Japan
  • Aluminium upper strut mounts
  • Dampers can be custom valved
  • Damper inserts replaceable
  • 1 year warranty
