I quickly set about doing all the go-to mods for the e36, along with a few extras. This included:
- Manual swap with Getrag 220 and single mass flywheel
- Removed rear speakers and all amps etc
- Removed all engine side AC components
- Revshift Polyurethane 95a engine, gearbox and diff mounts
- Rear muffler replaced with straight through twin pipe muffler with custom 3″ stainless tips
- Carbon cold airbox setup
- Removed rear seats and sound deadening, put black vinyl to cover the rear area
- Clear tail lights and indicators all round which I then tinted
- Style 32 wheels in 17×8 with low offset (et20) which I stripped and repainted myself with a course silver metallic over black base (unfortunately didn’t document the process).
At this point the exterior of the car looked like this:
I also redid the interior, which included:
- Front NZKW fixedback bucket seats to replace the super heavy factory mtech seats
- Momo Prototipo steering wheel
- Redid the door cards in white vinyl, with a special touch involving EL Wire
This is what the interior looked like once that was all done:
I also installed a “Purple Tag” E46 steering rack which has a quicker ratio, as the E36 ones are notoriously long. While doing that, I had a friend make up an aluminum steering coupler bushing/flex disc to replace the rubber one.
And of course my favourite part:
