HKS Hipermax S
If you are looking to prioritize comfort but you still want a well performing coilover for your 350z, it’s very hard to look past the HKS Hipermax S.
Designed with ride comfort as a priority, the Hipermax S coilovers are perfect for 350z owners who want a high quality, well handling coilover kit but don’t want to sacrifice the ride.
They feature a special Dual Pre-Load Valve System (PVS) which is designed to not only increase the responsiveness of the suspension, but improve ride quality as well by absorbing bumps faster.
A special wide-range needle in the adjustment system was also used, making each step in the 30 step adjustment more prominent, and giving more softer adjustment options for comfortable street driving.
The dampers are monotube and inverted, which helps to decrease unsprung weight, improves handling and also increases rigidity under high loads or with large wheels.
HKS also developed a special rubber bump stop design to makes for a smoother experience, should you reach the end of the shock’s travel, absorbing the shock much more smoothly than traditional bump stops.
They also come with a 3 year warranty and are rebuildable by HKS, so you don’t have to worry about failing parts any time soon.

APEXi N1 ExV
The A’PEXi N1 ExV’s are another fantastic choice for those on a budget. Designed as both a street and track setup, these coilovers are in the same range as BC Racings but are a bit cheaper (they are actually made by BC Racing for A’PEXi).
However, these coilovers have special valving and damper oil specified by A’PEXi based on all their years of R&D and participation in motorsports, so they are not exactly the same as the BC Racing’s.
These coilovers are extremely highly regarded, with many positive reviews online about not only how well they handle, but how well they ride as well. The only thing to note about these is that they are reportedly on the stiffer side, so be prepared for that if you choose to go with these. However, this is perfect if you plan to spend a lot of time at the track or doing “performance driving”.
They have been specifically designed for the American market which means they are made to withstand harsher weather conditions and increased wear from worse roads, making them more durable.
The shocks are monotube and feature 32-level dampening adjustment, and the ride height adjustment is done at the shock body, giving you full suspension travel at all ride height settings.
These coilovers are an amazing deal at just over $1000 and are perfect for those on a budget looking to use their 350z for both street and track.
Features:
- Ride height adjustment by the shock body

TEIN Flex Z
The Flex Z’s from TEIN are another amazing option, especially if you are looking for coilovers at the lower end of the budget scale. Despite their low price, they are a super high quality coilover kit full a features that can handle both street and track use.
Unlike the other coilovers on this list, these TEIN 350Z coilovers use a twin-tube damper design with 16-level dampening adjustment. TEIN went with the twin-tube dampers on these because they believe this will increase ride comfort on the street, especially when considering most cars running coilovers are lowered and use larger wheels and thinner tyres. The twin-tube’s smooth stroke movement allows the damper to follow rough and bumpy road surfaces quite well, offering supple ride at low speeds and a stable ride at high speeds.
The 16-level dampening adjustment is done through the use of a “ADVANCE needle” and allows you to fine tune the ride for both street and track. They are also compatible with TEIN’s EDFC system which allows you to adjust the dampers electronically from inside the car, even while driving.
The damper oil is specially formulated to ensure stable viscosity at any temperature, meaning the dampers will have a smooth stroke and stable damping force in all conditions, and combined with its anti-foaming characteristics, means these dampers can handle all types of driving including extended periods of intensive driving.
The Flex Z’s are adjustable by the shock body like the other coilovers on this list, meaning you get full suspension travel at all ride heights so that the dampers will not only last longer due to not bottoming out all the time, but the ride comfort will be better as will the handling.
They feature a special ZT coating on the threads and TEIN’s special patented powder coat which is extremely corrosion resistant, making them suitable for all weather conditions.
The springs are cold formed from high-tensile SAE9254 steel to ensure a high resistance to sagging and for superior stability. They are then powder coated to prevent an chipping or corrosion, ensuring a long life in any weather.
If all this wasn’t enough, TEIN actually make each coilover kit with slight differences based on where in the world they are going to be sold. This is so that they can optimize the ride and handling for the expected conditions (think harsh weather or worse roads).
Now, while these dampers are not rebuildable, TEIN do sell replacement damper inserts, which not only allow this coilover kit to be made for so cheap, but also allow quick replacement of the dampers – you don’t have to send them away to get rebuilt. This saves you time and money. TEIN will also revalve the dampers to suit whichever spring rates or settings you specify.
TEIN has really put a lot of effort into these coilovers and have made an amazing setup at an unbelievable low price for the quality and features. They are also made in Japan at TEIN’s manufacturing facility in Yokohama.
Features:
- Ride height adjustable by the shock body
- Lowers the front 0.9-2.7 inches, rear 0.8-2.6 inches
- 16-level dampening adjustable
- Compatible with EDFC system
- Upper strut mounts included
- Divorced rear

Megan Racing EZ II
If you are really on a tight budget and you can’t stretch it to get the TEIN Flex Z’s, then the Megan Racing EZ II’s are probably your best option.
Despite the ridiculously low price, these coilovers have proven themselves on both the street and track. You will find countless positive reviews from the many people who have used them, bought them as a cheap coilover and were pleasantly surprised at how good they really were.
They are designed as a street coilover, however they do provide great handling many people use them on track and for autocross with good success.
They have ride height adjustability by the shock body, like all the other coilovers on this list, and feature 15-level dampening adjustability from the monotube shocks.
Upper strut mounts are included, though not camber adjustable for the 350z due to having double A arm suspension. They also come with a 1 year warranty, which is saying something about Megan Racing’s confidence in them despite the low price.
From the information I found, it looks like BC Racing makes these coilovers for Megan Racing, so seeing BC’s great reputation you can be pretty sure the quality of these is going to be decent.
If you are on a tight budget and you need a coilover kit, the EZ II’s really are your best option and it seems like they will handle some track use as well – consider that an added bonus.
Features:
- Height adjustment by the shock body
- 15-level dampening adjustment
- Monotube dampers
- Upper strut mounts included
- Divorced rear
- 350z spring rates: 10kg front, 8kg rear
- 1 year warranty
True VS Divorced Rear (OEM Style) 350Z Coilovers
If you are buying 350Z coilovers, you will see that many brands offer the option of true vs divorced rear.
While this is subject to much debate, unless you have specific needs, going with the OEM style divorced rear is usually the best bet.
For 99% of cars which will be driven on the road and see occasional track time, the divorced rear setup is more than good enough.
The true rear option is only worth it if you are chasing milliseconds on the track.
