If you’ve been looking to lower your car on a budget you’ve probably come across the name TruHart. TruHart have gained in popularity in the recent years for making extremely cheap coilovers that go low. However, are they any good? Let’s find out.
About TrueHart the Company
It’s actually quite difficult to find much information on this company online, which in itself is a bit of a red flag. They are based in North Carolina, USA, however their coilovers are made in China (from what I can find). Other than that there isn’t much info except for what you might find scouring random forum posts.
Unlike Raceland Coilovers and their excellent customer service, I couldn’t find much feedback on how good TruHart’s customer service or warranty claims are, so can’t make a judgement call their either.
From what I can gather, TruHart’s primary selling point is the very low price of their coilover kits, so that’s something that should be considered if looking at buying them.
TruHart offer two coilover models, the Basics and the StreetPlus.
TruHart Basic Coilovers
The TruHart Basic coilovers are the “entry-level” option and are basically made to be as cheap as possible. They don’t have dampening adjustability or come with strut mounts, so you have to reuse your factory ones, or get new ones.
They have progressive rate springs which they say are to make for a “plush yet sporty ride”, and have zinc plated shock bodies, powder coated lower mounts and anodized lock rings for protection. The Basic coilovers will lower your car from 12mm (0.5 inches) to 89mm (3.5 inches).
They also come with a 2 years warranty for manufacturer defects.
TruHart StreetPlus Coilovers
The StreetPlus coilovers are a step up from the Basics and some additional features, including:
- Ride height adjustment from the shock body, which gives you more suspension travel while going low, and also allows you to set the spring pre-load
- Come with strut mounts with camber adjustment
- Lower your car from 38mm (1.5 inches) to 100mm (4 inches)
- Also feature zinc plated shock bodies, powder coated lower mounts and anodized lock rings & top mounts for protection against corrosion
- Also come with a 2 year warranty against manufacturing defects
These are a more complete coilover kit that allow you to go lower and make more adjustments. Unfortunately, they still don’t feature dampening adjustment, so you won’t be able to fine tune the ride.
TruHart DRAG Spec Coilovers
TruHart’s DRAG Spec coilovers are designed to help you get better 60ft times on the quarter mile. They are currently only available for Hondas and Acuras, and feature very stiff rear springs (18kg) with softer front springs, to help keep more grip in the front tires and prevent weight transfer to the rear when launching.
So What’s the Verdict on TruHart Coilovers?
Personally, I’m not convinced. There’s just too little information out there to be able to make a good judgement call.
I have read reviews from people that were happy with them, but all of those reviews seemed to be from young guys who had little experience with different suspension types, so don’t really have a good basis to compare against (I remember what I was like at 18 also).
There’s also a decent range of good coilovers for daily driving that I would much sooner go for than with TruHarts at this point in time. Their low price is not that low to warrant risking it on them when you can buy a coilover kit that has lots of actual reviews and it made by a reputable company with a history.
So overall, personally I wouldn’t buy them. However, if you are willing to take the risk and just want a cheap coilover for the street, these may be for you.

Cons

- Not a lot of information about the company or the coilovers
- Hard to find many reviews
- No detailed information or graphs on the shocks dampening etc
What I Would Recommend Instead
If you are looking for budget coilovers, I’d highly recommend taking a look at Riaction coilovers.
These coilovers offer incredible value for money and are an excellent budget friendly option.
For more information on these coilovers, check out my full Riaction coilovers review here.
Basically, considering the rather small price difference between Truhart coilovers and the Riactions, there is no reason to go risking it on an unproven coilover kit when you can buy a very reputable kit for a few hundred dollars more more.
